Description: The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is pleased to announce a series of luncheon briefings for congressional staff to highlight innovation and discovery supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) at America’s medical schools and teaching hospitals. The first luncheon will be held on Monday, June 20, from noon to 1 p.m. in room B-369, Rayburn House Office Building. Our speakers will be Elias Zerhouni, M.D., Director, National Institutes of Health, and Jordan Cohen, M.D., President, Association of American Medical Colleges. The Fulfilling the Promise briefings are designed to update congressional staff on: • the vital linkage that exists among medical schools, teaching hospitals, and the NIH, • the essential role that medical schools and teaching hospitals play in research, • the timeline and process for medical discovery.
